Scientific research department has a long history, since 1956 China Academy of Printing Technology was founded, Scientific research department has imported and trained a large number of printing technology talents, and undertaken some major national scientific research and technology promotion projects, hundreds of research projects have been completed, many of them won the Scientific Achievement Award by the country or the relevant ministries. In 2002, after the change of system overall, as a key research department affiliated to China Printing Group, scientific research department try the best to create a distinctive and creative team, "technology-oriented economic development" principle as a guide, integrate industry resources, take the road of "industry, academia, research," which means a combination of scientific and technological development, speed up scientific and technological achievements  change to commercialization, industrialization and iternationalization.

At present, there are two research offices and one laboratory, focus on digital technology, color management, printing environmental protection etc., and also undertake technology reform projects and provide technology consultant service for enterprise that produce printing and  equipment and materials. Now Scientific Research Department’s key topics are: printing ink color matching technology research, plasma technology in the RFID antenna manufacturing applied research, LCD in the printing products applied research, personalized package making systems, printing enterprise’s computer and network management systems, effluent recycling in the printing process research.

Now there are already some achievements popularized to the printing industry: dual-use production line of PS plate / CTP plate, Keyin complex chroma spectrum management system, KeyinFlow system, waste acid recycling of printing plate production line projects.
